Southern Islamic Institute

Family Planning

Level 3: Contraception, Spacing, and Responsible Parenthood

For adults 18 and older

Outline only

In Islam, parenthood is both a gift and a responsibility. While children are a source of immense joy and spiritual reward, Islam also recognizes the importance of wisdom, preparedness, and mutual agreement when deciding when and how many children to have. This level dives into the nuanced topic of contraception, family spacing, and responsible parenthood from an Islamic perspective.

Students will explore the permissibility, conditions, and ethical boundaries of various family planning methods, as well as the spiritual, emotional, and physical considerations that shape these decisions. This level equips learners to make informed, intentional choices within the framework of Islamic teachings: balancing trust in Allah’s decree with proactive planning rooted in mercy, care, and accountability.

Planned: 5 modules, 25 units, 75 lesson titles. 25 units are held for review.

Outline: the course plan comes from our founder's curriculum, and lessons are being written and reviewed. Module, unit, and lesson titles appear here once scholars have reviewed a level.
