Level 7 of the Islamic History Curriculum explores The Modern Era & Contemporary Islamic Developments. This period examines the effects of colonialism, globalization, and modern political shifts on the Muslim world, covering key historical events from the 18th century to the present day.
Students will gain insight into the decline of traditional Islamic empires, the impact of Western colonization, the rise of independence movements, and the formation of modern nation-states. This level will also explore contemporary Islamic thought, challenges facing Muslim communities worldwide, and the role of Islam in shaping today’s global landscape.
