Level 2: The First Muslim Community

Level 2 of the Islamic History Curriculum explores The Prophetic Era & The First Muslim Community. This level covers the establishment of the first Muslim society in Madinah, the challenges faced by the early Muslim community, the major battles, treaties, and the spread of Islam. The course also highlights the Prophet’s ﷺ leadership, governance, and the foundations laid for Islamic civilization.

Students will gain insight into how the Prophet ﷺ built a just and inclusive society, addressed conflicts, and implemented laws that would shape Islamic governance for centuries. The level will conclude with the Farewell Sermon, the passing of the Prophet ﷺ, and the transition of leadership to the Rightly Guided Caliphs.

What students will learn

  • Understand how the first Muslim state was established in Madinah.
  • Analyze the leadership qualities and governance of the Prophet ﷺ.
  • Examine the causes and impacts of major battles fought during this period.
  • Learn about the key treaties and agreements that shaped early Islam.
  • Explore the Prophet’s ﷺ final years and the transition to the Caliphate.

Planned: 6 modules, 30 units, 120 lesson titles. 3 units are held for review.
